Pool lounger and sun lounger manufacturers in China include aluminium frame specialists, woven sling and mesh makers, synthetic rattan weavers, teak and hardwood workshops and moulded resin producers, and each prices a different scope under the same words “sun lounger”. A resort pool deck may need hundreds of stackable loungers that are wheeled in and out daily; a villa terrace may need a handful of daybeds with cushions.
This guide sorts the supply side into five sourcing routes so a procurement team can send one brief to the right makers and compare the answers fairly. It is not a ranking. No factory is named or scored here, and no claim is made about UV, chlorine, salt or heat resistance of any product. The project’s specification must define the conditions, and each maker must show evidence for the exact model it offers.
What should a pool lounger brief state?
A brief that says only “sun loungers, grey, 300 pieces” produces quotations that cannot be compared. State at least the following.
- Setting: pool deck, rooftop, beach, garden or villa terrace, and whether pieces stay out in all weather or are stored at night.
- Lounger type: fixed-back, adjustable-back, stackable, chaise, daybed or lounger with wheels, with the reclining positions the designer wants.
- Dimensions: overall length, width, seat height and back height drawn against the deck layout, so makers do not substitute standard sizes.
- Frame and finish: the material, the coating or finish system and the colour with an approved sample.
- Sling or seat surface: woven mesh, synthetic rattan, slatted timber or moulded shell, with the colour and weave reference.
- Cushions: whether cushions are included, the covering reference, the fill description and the drying arrangement the designer expects.
- Handling: stacking, wheels or carry handles, and the number of staff who will move each piece.
- Fixings and hardware: the material of screws, hinges and ratchets, stated by the designer for the exposure.
Five sourcing routes for pool and sun loungers
1. Aluminium frame specialists
Aluminium frames with sling or cushion seats suit pool decks where light weight and stacking matter. Ask about tube section and wall thickness, how the frame is welded or jointed, the coating system and its sample, and how the backrest mechanism is made. Request a drawing of the frame and mechanism, not only a photograph of the finished lounger.
2. Woven sling and mesh makers
These makers focus on the fabric or mesh that forms the seat. Ask for the weave and colour reference, how the sling is fixed to the frame, how it is replaced later, and what the maker can show about colour change from sun and cleaning. Compare slings on the same colour and weave, because two makers can both call a product “mesh”.
3. Synthetic rattan weavers
Synthetic rattan loungers and daybeds suit lodge and villa styles. The weave, the fibre, the frame underneath and the cushion arrangement all affect price and wear. Ask for the fibre description, how the weave is fixed to the frame and what the maker can show for outdoor use. For the material question, see our guides to synthetic PE rattan versus natural rattan and synthetic rattan outdoor furniture manufacturers.
4. Teak and hardwood workshops
Timber loungers carry a premium look and need a clear statement of species, grade, joint method and finish. Ask for the species name, where the timber is documented, how slats are fixed and what maintenance the maker recommends. Our guide to aluminium versus teak versus rope outdoor furniture compares the materials, and timber legality documents are covered in our guide to timber legality documents.
5. Moulded resin and full outdoor suppliers
Moulded resin loungers are common where price and stacking matter most, and some suppliers combine them with tables, umbrellas and other outdoor items. Ask which resin each model uses, how colour is achieved, and how the maker shows capability for each product group it quotes. For the wider outdoor range, see our guide to outdoor furniture manufacturers for US hospitality projects.
How to compare lounger quotations
- What is included: frame, sling or seat, cushions, wheels and packing, shown in separate columns.
- Model match: each line tied to a model and colour on your schedule, so missing items show up.
- Finish reference: the exact coating or finish reference quoted, so a cheaper substitute cannot appear later.
- Cushion details: covering reference, fill description and whether covers are removable.
- Hardware: material of the screws, hinges and ratchet parts stated in writing for each model.
- Packing: how frames, slings and cushions are packed, and how stacked pieces are protected.
- Exclusions and substitutions: any change to material, thickness or components the maker proposes.

Pool decks and resorts: what changes
On a pool deck, loungers meet water, sun and cleaning chemicals every day, and the site’s own conditions matter more than a product brochure. Ask the designer which exposure the specification assumes, and put it in the enquiry. Our guide to outdoor furniture for rooftop and coastal high-wind sites covers the weight and anchoring questions for exposed decks.
For the pool itself and its equipment, see our guide to swimming pool tile and equipment manufacturers, and for wider resort packages see sourcing for resort and beach club projects.
Samples, approval and acceptance on delivery
Agree the approval route before the order, not after bulk production. Ask each maker for a finished sample of the exact lounger, in the approved frame finish and sling or cushion reference, and record the approval in writing with the sample marked. Keep the sample sealed so that delivered pieces can be compared with it.
On delivery, check a sample of cartons against the order: model, colour, count and the way stacked pieces were protected. Note any difference in writing the same day and send photographs, so the maker can respond while the evidence is fresh. The same comparison should be repeated for each batch if the order ships in several containers.
What evidence to ask each route for
Evidence should be requested for the exact model, not for a product family. For each route above, ask for the following in writing and keep the answers with the quotation.
- Aluminium specialists: a frame and mechanism drawing, the coating system named on the product sheet and a finished sample.
- Sling and mesh makers: the weave and colour reference and a sample of the exact colour.
- Synthetic rattan weavers: the fibre description, a weave sample and the frame material underneath.
- Teak and hardwood workshops: the species name, the joint drawing and the finish named on the product sheet.
- Resin and full outdoor suppliers: a separate product sheet for each product group quoted, so each can be judged on its own.
Specification gaps to close before quotation
A quotation cannot answer the questions below for itself. Before sending the enquiry, check that the brief answers these questions.
- Do the makers know the setting and exposure, such as salt air, rooftop wind or chlorinated water?
- Are cushions included, and is the covering reference named?
- Is stacking or wheeling needed, and how many pieces per stack?
- Are spare slings, cushions or feet wanted, quoted separately?
- How will pieces be packed and marked so they can be matched to areas on site?
- Who checks the approved sample against bulk production?
Next steps for a resort lounger package
Send each maker the same brief: the lounger types and quantities, the setting, the finish and sling references and the approved samples. Ask for answers in writing, model by model. FBM Sourcing also runs FBM Furniture for furniture-only packages.
Questions buyers ask about pool loungers from China
What is the difference between a sun lounger and a daybed?
A sun lounger is a single reclining seat, usually with an adjustable back, while a daybed is a wider platform for two or more people, often with a canopy and cushions. They need different frames and packing, so name the type for each item in the brief.
Should we order a sample before a large lounger order?
Yes, where the finish, sling or cushion matters. Approve a finished sample, record the approval, and refer to it in the purchase order.
Can one maker supply loungers, tables and umbrellas together?
Some can. One supplier simplifies coordination, but ask it to show capability for each product group, because the products use different skills.
How do we avoid mixing up colours between batches?
Name the colour and weave reference in the order, approve a sample, and ask the maker to state how it controls colour between batches. Check the first delivered pieces against the sample.
How does FBM Sourcing support an outdoor furniture package?
We review the brief, collect comparable quotations and manage the package for the project. For suppliers you nominate, we charge a 5% commission; for products we source for you, we quote a direct price. Our own team performs one inspection after bulk production is complete and before shipment, and the client’s project team is welcome to attend.
