Factories price windows as components: profile (series and wall thickness — 1.4mm vs 2.0mm aluminum changes cost meaningfully), glazing unit (5+9A+5 clear vs 5+12A+5 Low-E tempered can differ 50% on the glass line), hardware (domestic brands vs imported), plus surface finish and mesh/screen options. A quote that just says “aluminum casement window, per square meter” is not comparable to anything. Demand component-level quotations — it is also how you catch the classic substitution tricks: thinner profile walls, missing steel reinforcement in uPVC, or annealed glass where tempered was specified.

Which Standards Apply to Your Market?
Certification is per-order, not per-factory. Australian projects need AS 2047 windows and AS 1288 glazing; US projects look for NFRC/AAMA test data; UK and European projects need CE or UKCA marking with EN standards behind it; hurricane and cyclone regions add impact and pressure testing. QC: What Gets Inspected on a Window Order
Windows fail at site in predictable ways, so inspection targets those failure modes at the factory: material verification at production start (profile stamp, wall thickness measurement, glass certificates), mid-production operation checks (every sash opened and closed, locks engaged, drainage slots present), and pre-shipment inspection covering glass seal integrity, corner joint quality, hardware function and packing — corner protection and vertical glass stacking matter more for windows than almost any other product.
