Fire extinguisher manufacturers in China include makers of portable extinguishers of different types, makers of hose reels, landing valves and hydrant fittings, sheet metal fabricators that build recessed and surface-mounted fire cabinets, companies that supply complete fire-fighting equipment packages with signs and brackets, and general safety equipment suppliers that bundle extinguishers with other life-safety items. These products sit in every corridor and plant room of a hotel, apartment or office building, and each route supplies a different body, approval basis and level of documentation under the same name.
This guide sorts the supply side into five sourcing routes so a procurement team can send one brief to the right makers and compare the answers fairly. It is not a ranking. No factory is named or scored here, and no claim is made about the rating, discharge performance or approval status of any extinguisher or fitting. The fire engineer, the project specification and the local authority define those requirements, and each maker must show evidence for the exact model it offers. For related documents, see our guides to fire and life-safety documents for project handover and fire safety approvals for Gulf hotel projects.
What should a fire extinguisher and cabinet brief state?
A brief that says only “fire extinguishers and cabinets, 400 sets” produces quotations that cannot be compared, because the extinguisher type, the cabinet configuration and the approvals the destination expects are left open. State at least the following, copied from the fire safety schedule and the specification.
- Item code and quantity: each extinguisher, hose reel and cabinet type from the schedule with the quantity per floor or zone, so equipment is priced against locations and not against a total.
- Extinguisher type: the agent and the size for each location, written exactly as the fire engineer writes them, with the location class such as corridor, kitchen or plant room.
- Hose and valve items: reel or cabinet type, hose description, nozzle and landing valve connection, as the hydraulic drawings show them.
- Cabinet: recessed or surface-mounted, wall thickness and finish, door and glazing description, and whether a break-glass panel or a lock is wanted.
- Markings and signs: wording, language and symbols on the equipment, on the cabinet door and on the sign that goes above it.
- Approvals the project names: the listing, test or certification the specification requires for each item, with its standard and edition, set by the designer and the authority and not by the maker.
- Mounting: brackets, hooks, wall plates and fixings, and who supplies them.
- Servicing: whether charge, tag and service records are part of the supply, and what the operator expects at handover.
- Packing: how extinguishers and cabinets are packed and marked by floor and zone, and which items ship separately.
Five sourcing routes for fire extinguishers and cabinets
1. Portable extinguisher makers
Portable extinguishers are made by firms with their own cylinder, valve and filling lines. Ask for the model description with the agent, the size and the label the maker applies for the destination, the approval documents offered for the exact model, and a sample that can be inspected. This route suits projects that buy one agent and size family in volume for corridors and offices.
2. Hose reel, valve and hydrant fitting makers
Hose reels and landing valves are made by hydraulic and brass fittings firms. Ask for the connection type drawing, the hose description, the materials of each body and the test documents the maker offers for the model, and confirm that the connection matches the local fire service connection named in the specification.
3. Fire cabinet fabricators
Sheet metal fabricators build recessed and surface-mounted cabinets from the cabinet drawing. Ask for the section drawing, the finish system, the door and glazing description and a finished sample, and agree in writing who fits the extinguisher or hose reel inside. See our guide to signage and wayfinding manufacturers for the sign above the cabinet.
4. Complete fire-fighting equipment package suppliers
Some suppliers quote the full package: extinguishers, reels, cabinets, signs and brackets. This puts one party in charge of the package and one delivery, but ask the supplier to price each item on its own line and to name the maker of each so that evidence can be checked item by item.
5. General safety equipment suppliers
General suppliers bundle extinguishers with first aid, signs and other safety items. This helps small orders, but ask each supplier which items it makes and which it buys in, and request the evidence in the name of the maker of the exact model.
How to compare fire extinguisher and cabinet quotations
- Model and agent: the model named on each line, the agent and the size stated for each extinguisher.
- Cabinet description: recessed or surface, finish, door and glazing description on each line.
- Included parts: brackets, signs, hoses, nozzles, valves and fixings listed with quantities.
- Units of measure: price per extinguisher, per cabinet or per set, and what a set contains.
- Evidence: which approval and test documents are offered for the exact model, with the date and the body that issued them.
- Labels and language: the wording and language of the labels and whether they match the destination.
- Exclusions and substitutions: any change of agent, size, finish or fitting the maker proposes.
A quotation that is cheaper on one line may be thinner on another. Read the descriptions side by side before reading the totals.

Servicing, handover and records
Fire equipment is only useful if it is accepted by the local authority and kept in service. Agree before the order who tags and records each unit, what the handover pack contains and how long the maker keeps the model available for spare charges and parts. Ask each maker to state in writing which spare parts it offers for the model, how they are identified and how a replacement is matched to the original body.
Keep a handover list by floor and zone: item code, location, model, date of supply and the approval documents received. This list is what the operator, the insurer and the inspector will ask for, and it is far easier to build while the cartons are marked by zone than after the equipment is on the wall.
Samples, approval and acceptance on delivery
Approve a finished sample of each extinguisher type and of each cabinet type before bulk production, and record the approval in writing against the item code. Place the sample cabinet beside the sample extinguisher so that door, sign and equipment are seen together. Keep the approved sample as the reference for the bulk order.
On delivery, check a sample of cartons against the order: model, agent, size, labels, finish and quantity per zone. Note any damage or difference in writing on the day with photographs, so the maker can respond while the evidence is fresh. Before shipment our own team checks quantities, finish and packing against the signed-off specification, and you receive a QC report with photos and video.
What evidence to ask each route for
Evidence should be requested for the exact model, not for a product family. Ask for the following in writing and keep the answers with the quotation.
- Portable extinguisher makers: model description, label proof for the destination, the approval documents named in the specification and a sample.
- Hose reel and valve makers: connection drawing, material description and the test documents offered for the model.
- Cabinet fabricators: section drawing, finish system, door description and a finished sample.
- Package suppliers: a separate product sheet and the name of the maker for each item.
- General suppliers: the maker’s own documents for each exact model, not the trader’s summary.
Specification gaps to close before quotation
A quotation cannot answer the questions below for itself. Check that the brief answers these questions before it goes out.
- Which extinguisher agents and sizes does the fire engineer name for each location class?
- Which approval or listing does the specification require, in which standard and edition, and who confirms the maker’s documents match it?
- Which language and symbols must the labels carry for the destination?
- Which cabinets are recessed and which are surface-mounted, and who prepares the wall opening?
- Who supplies brackets, signs and fixings, and who fits them?
- How are cartons marked by floor and zone, and what handover list does the operator expect?

Questions buyers ask about fire extinguishers and cabinets from China
Can two extinguisher quotations be compared by unit price alone?
No. A unit price says nothing about the agent, the size, the label or the approval documents. Compare the model, agent, size, labels and included parts on each line before comparing totals.
Who decides which approval a fire extinguisher needs?
The specification, the fire engineer and the local authority decide. Name the requirement and its edition in the brief and ask each maker to show evidence for the exact model.
Should cabinets and extinguishers come from the same maker?
They can, which gives one party for fit and finish, but keep each item on its own line so that you can see what the cabinet costs and what the equipment costs, and ask for the maker of each.
Do extinguishers need a sample before ordering?
Yes. Approve a finished sample of each type against its item code and keep it as the reference for the bulk order.
