Two numbers sit behind every credible quotation. Absorption is reported as NRC tested to ASTM C423 (or the equivalent αw to ISO 354), and it must be tested for the exact thickness and mounting condition being supplied — a 9 mm panel quoted with a 12 mm panel’s test report is a substitution, not a saving. Fire performance for US-bound projects means ASTM E84 Class A — flame spread index 25 or below and smoke developed 450 or below — while European and Australian projects call up EN 13501 or AS ISO 9705-based classifications.
