Tapware is the most tightly regulated sanitary ware category, and paperwork failures here stop plumbing inspections. Depending on the destination we verify:
- cUPC / NSF-61 and NSF-372 for the United States and Canada — potable-water contact and low-lead compliance are non-negotiable for commercial plumbing sign-off.
- WaterMark and WELS for Australia — WaterMark for plumbing approval plus WELS star-rated flow registration; both must be current and listed under the actual manufacturer.
- WRAS or equivalent water-fittings approval for the UK.
- CE / EN 817, EN 1111 mechanical and thermostatic mixer standards for European projects.
Budget-wise, certification is also where the price spread between two visually identical mixers comes from. A certified low-lead brass basin mixer with a branded ceramic cartridge might quote at two to three times the price of a lookalike zinc-body mixer with generic internals — and the lookalike is the one that fails cartridge cycling in year two and cannot pass a US or Australian plumbing inspection at all.
