Project Background
A private villa owner in the Philippines engaged FBM Sourcing to furnish an entire new-build home from China in a single, tightly scheduled buying trip — sofas, dining and occasional tables, bedroom furniture, TV cabinets and bookshelves selected, priced and confirmed across several Foshan-area showrooms and factories in one day, then produced, inspected and consolidated into two 40HQ containers.
Most villa furniture programs are built up over weeks of sample rounds and remote approvals. This one compressed that process into a single accompanied sourcing day, because the client had a narrow window to be in China in person. As the client’s furniture sourcing agent on the ground, FBM Sourcing planned the showroom and factory route in advance, lined up the right suppliers for each product category, and kept the client moving from decision to decision — fabric and leather colors, wood finishes, table sizes — so that a full-house furniture package worth roughly RMB 1 million could be locked in before he flew home.

How It Works?
The brief was for a complete, new-build villa: living room seating across several sofa and chair styles, a dining set, multiple tea and occasional tables, a full bedroom package including bed frame, headboard and bedside furniture, TV cabinets in two sizes, and bookshelves for a study or den. Nothing in the villa was being replaced or renovated — every item was new furniture for a home still under fit-out, which meant colors, wood tones and proportions had to work together as one coordinated scheme rather than as isolated purchases.
The client’s constraint was time, not budget. He was only able to be on the ground in China for a single day, so the entire selection process — comparing sofa frames, fabric and leather swatches, table sizes and wood finishes across multiple product categories — had to happen in one accompanied circuit of showrooms and factories rather than the usual multi-week sample-and-approve cycle.
Because the order spanned upholstered seating, casegoods and tables rather than one product line, FBM Sourcing pre-selected a route through Foshan-area showrooms and factories that could each show finished samples on the spot: an upholstery supplier for the sectional sofas and accent chairs, a casegoods factory for the bed frame, headboard, TV cabinets and bookshelves, and table specialists for the dining, tea and occasional tables. Having the right suppliers already lined up — rather than sourcing reactively — was what made a one-day, multi-category buying trip realistic. The photos below are from that sourcing trip.

At each stop, the client confirmed fabric and leather colors against physical swatches, checked wood tones for the bed, TV cabinets and bookshelves against each other, and signed off on table dimensions for the dining and living areas. Orders were placed the same day across the different factories, with production schedules coordinated so that the sofas, casegoods and tables would all be ready to inspect within the same window — turning a same-day, multi-supplier buying trip into one coordinated production and shipping program rather than several unrelated orders.
With upholstery, casegoods and tables coming from different factories, quality control was run product by product rather than as one generic pass. Sofas and accent chairs were checked for fabric and leather color match against the approved swatch, frame and cushion construction, and stitching quality on both fabric and leather pieces. The bed frame, headboard and bedside pieces were inspected for wood color consistency — confirmed to match across the whole bedroom set — and for secure assembly before packing. TV cabinets and bookshelves were checked for walnut finish consistency and panel alignment, and dining, tea and occasional tables were measured against the confirmed dimensions and checked for tabletop finish. Packing was matched to each product type rather than handled as a single generic method. Sofas and accent chairs were wrapped in PP film with foam-protected corners before cartoning; the bed frame, headboard and bedside pieces were wrapped in PP film and foam and packed in reinforced cartons; TV cabinets, bookshelves and the hallway console were covered in PP film with foam edge protection; and the round and occasional tables were packed with foam bracing to protect the tabletops in transit. Once every factory’s production closed within the same window, the full order was consolidated and loaded into two 40HQ containers for shipment to the Philippines — avoiding the cost and coordination of separate part-container shipments from multiple suppliers.
After the containers shipped, FBM Sourcing stayed the client’s single point of contact for the order, even though the furniture had come from several different factories. Any transit or finish issue on a specific piece was handled directly with the factory responsible for that item, so the client never had to chase down multiple suppliers individually from overseas. Running after-sales through one channel, regardless of how many factories are involved in a project, is standard on every engagement we manage.
